Create the Quality of life you want

Welcome! My name is Todd Burrier. Over two decades ago I was blessed to have been laid off in the banking industry during a time of economic upheaval. This led me to search for a way to have more control over my own future. I wound up in the home business world. After seven hard years of lessons and personal growth, I found a way to build a highly successful business from home, using some very basic and simple human principles. I have since been able to mentor many people on the path to a better life through creating a home based income stream. This blog is dedicated to helping anyone in a networking style business succeed. I will be sharing proven concepts for growing and leading a successful business. Anyone who is nice, honest, and committed to succeeding can do what I teach. If there are any topics you specifically would like me to address as we go along, just let me know. To comment on any posting mouse over next to the time of the post.

Life Happens

So I came home from the gym this morning energized. I had a lot to do and my mind was in the place to do it. My blog, a youtube project, people I needed to talk to, an event to plan for tomorrow, etc. Within 10 minutes of being home I discover, a major water leak in the basement, a separate issue with the water heater, a problem with an international transaction, and...well that's enough!

After an hour and a half on my hands and knees sopping up water and wringing out towels (its a great work out for your forearms I discovered!), in between my phone ringing off the hook and dealing with who is coming to fix what, I finally sat down to eat breakfast. I actually chuckled to myself...because there was not much else I could do.

This is called "life happening." It happens to all of us. We don't like it when it does, but we have to deal with it anyway. The key for me with life happening is perspective and planning. Planning is the simple one. I plan daily, and in advance, and am usually on top of most everything I am involved in...in other words I do not procrastinate anything. I learned years ago that the price of procrastination is way to steep. This is vital because when life happens, and I have to stop and work on whatever just happened, it doesn't create a chain reaction of crisis which occurs when people leave things until the last minute to do and then things happen and they can't do them!

The perspective part is a little harder but even more valuable. There's two things I think about...the first is that every thing that happens is basically temporary. Regardless of the situation, for the most part, it will pass. It might be inconvenient now, or painful now, but it doesn't have to stay that way.

The second perspective angle is that whatever my problem is, it is pretty small comparatively speaking. Like today. I hated cleaning up my "flood" in the basement....but what about the people around the world, including the U.S., who lose everything they have to floods? Whatever problems I have, there are Billions...no exaggeration, BILLIONS of people who would trade their problems for mine in a heartbeat.

So...life happened...I dealt with the initial part, am in the process of dealing with the rest, and now I am happily doing my blog and doing my thing. Life is good and I am blessed.
