During my German tour, where I was in meetings with different people in different cities, every night, I did a meeting for a woman named Karin in the north of Germany. She is a wonderful lady with great energy and conviction. The event was at her shop and we had 30 or so at the gathering. She did a great job, along with the team around her, of putting everything together, including, food etc. for everyone. It was a great night.
This isn't about what a great job Karin did...it's an example of what our business is all about at the core...and that is people and helping people. You see, in July, Karin's husband died. He was a relatively young man, full of life and well-liked in the community. Karin was devastated as you can imagine to lose her life partner with so much seemingly left of their journey together. But Karin does not have to traverse this difficult ground by herself. She has incredible people from her business around her...and I don't just mean the people in her organization...I am also talking about her sponsors, and the side team members around her.
She has caring support around her every day because of the relationships she has built in the business. And while of course, she still struggles emotionally, she is moving forward with her goal to help 1000 people live better lives. She is focusing on helping others gain, instead of focusing on what she has lost.
It was inspiring for me to see her looking forward and refusing to feel sorry for herself. I speak often about the best way of picking yourself up as focusing on giving to others...nothing feels better than helping and giving...but at the same time we are all human and have our own needs. The foundation of relationships from the business have helped support Karin so she can focus her energy outward and make a differenc in the world. Relationships are the "other" major need our business meets...but it is intangible sometimes for people to grasp it, but when you see it in action and experience it's power it is awesome. Many of you will see Karin sometime in the future ona stage...and what a wonderful passionate story she will tell.
