Create the Quality of life you want

Welcome! My name is Todd Burrier. Over two decades ago I was blessed to have been laid off in the banking industry during a time of economic upheaval. This led me to search for a way to have more control over my own future. I wound up in the home business world. After seven hard years of lessons and personal growth, I found a way to build a highly successful business from home, using some very basic and simple human principles. I have since been able to mentor many people on the path to a better life through creating a home based income stream. This blog is dedicated to helping anyone in a networking style business succeed. I will be sharing proven concepts for growing and leading a successful business. Anyone who is nice, honest, and committed to succeeding can do what I teach. If there are any topics you specifically would like me to address as we go along, just let me know. To comment on any posting mouse over next to the time of the post.

Brett works "The Process"...Get Results

A great thing about our business is that it is blameless. If you do it...it works and if you don't...well...I have heard all the excuses in my career...and made many of them myself! But I have come to know the truth...People who make excuses never succeed...and people who succeed never make excuses.
This is a quick story about a young man who is quickly showing the responsibility of a future leader and success in the business and in life. His name is Brett (not to be confused with my son Brett). Brett started working a little with me in the late winter of last year. He is a full-time college student, has a full-time waiter job, an active social life, and a full-time girlfriend...in other words, he is a little busy!
Brett had some initial success in sponsoring in the spring, although he was obviously limited in the time he could commit. We spoke frequently and he felt that summer would be a great time for him to work his business, because he wouldn't have school, and most of his circle of influence would be home for the summer. However, things didn't happen as originally planned....he ended up working more in the waiter job, and doing what I know I would have done...having fun with his friends the rest of the time. A typical summer story for a college student.
Here's where the story gets Atypical....Brett made no excuses. He and I spoke from time to time over the summer and he admitted he was having fun and enjoying the summer and that the business was not a priority at the time. He said when school started again, he intended to refocus. Well, school began in late August, and after settling in to his busy schedule, we began to talk about how he was going to go about growing his business. We sat together and looked at his schedule...a schedule full of commitments. He figured out that he had only a few time slots during the days and virtually no slots in the evening until late, because of work or class.
We spoke about the Approach being the most important thing he could do, and the one thing he needed to figure out how to do on a regualr basis. Since his time is so limited, he doesn't have time to do the info/story stage with everyone who would like to learn, so we talked about using tools (webinars/cds, etc) to leverage his time so when he was speaking further to someone they would be interested in the actual offereing. On his own, he figured out how to use his time at night to contact via email/facebook and augment this with phone calls as he could.
He set his Approach goal at 3 per day, and began doing it about a month ago. He has already sponsored 4 new people and has several more in his pipeline...in his own words..."its easy if you just do it." What I admire and appreciate about Brett is that he takes responsibility and he is highly teachable. If there is a book that will help him...he reads it...if there are tools that will help him build his business...he invests in them. He is building a long term business one brick at a time in the few minutes he has per day to do it...it would be easy for him NOT to do it....most people would accept his excuses of being too busy...most people that is except Brett...he knows that excuses don't build a future...and he has a wonderful future ahead of him.
