...well as crazy as the day was yesterday, in typical fashion, the evening was just as crazy. But, I was able to stay focused for a two hour period of time to continue my quest to help people. The rest of the evening after posting the first blog was as follows:
I decided to wait until around 8:00p.m. to allow people to get home from work and situated after dinner. I officially opened up my business last night at 7:00p.m. by walking into my downstairs office. That's the great thing about a home-based business, you can open and close at any point in the day. I'm in total control. I never had that option 23 years prior to retirement :-) Once in my cozy chair I decided to work a little backwards to allow people time to settle in for the evening. I started with some service oriented tasks that I had been meaning to complete for the last several days.
The two main service tasks I completed was one, writing an email to all of my client/customers about how to prepare for the cold and flu season just ahead of us and two, completing a handwritten thank you card to a client/customer who recently purchased some products. Believe it or not, this took about 45 minutes. I really take a lot of time when I email information. After completing those two tasks I took a few minutes to send a couple emails to people who had been on the product for a few weeks to make sure they were being consistent and didn't have any problems taking any of the products. After these emails I shifted to attempting some follow-ups with newer prospects.
I first went to my cardboard file box and pulled out my index cards in the section I have labeled, "Immediate Follow-Ups." These are people that I have either recently talked with or sent information to that I need to get back with to see where they are in the review or evaluation part of the process.
The first person I attempted to call I'd had a conversation with at a local high school football game. He asked my favorite question, "What are you doing now that you're retired." After telling him a little of my story of how I was introduced to Life Plus, we talked about a few of the products and I told him I would send him some information. When I called he did not answer so I left a message stating that I was calling to see if he had a chance to look at the website I sent him to and to see if he had any further questions I could assist him with.
The second person I attempted to contact I only had an email for and she was a person I sent information to about two specific products dealing with a particular health issue. In addition to the first two products I sent, I suggested in this email she watch a 30 minute webinar Todd did on "Foundational Nutrition."
The last person I followed up with was a friend who I've been touching with information for the past month. In speaking with him, he stated he still had not had a chance to look over the information, but assured me he was definitely interested and would call me after reviewing what I sent him. I asked if he minded if I call him back in a week so he didn't have to worry about making the call and he said that would be fine. My reason for asking if I could call him instead waiting for his call me was to possibly help to inspire him to take a few minutes to review the information I sent him before receiving another call from me.
After completing the above follow-ups, I pulled out my most current list of friends to call when I received a phone call from a business partner that had a few questions about some informational tools on the company website. We took some time going through the site and me pointing out where to locate specific tools. This took me past my allotted time I had made to do the business and was now cutting into family time. Therefore, no prospect calls were made. Family comes first!!
...stay tuned for tomorrows efforts. Prospect calls first!!
