Because I had exhausted my list, I began spending money on advertising. Advertising is a form of what I call passive lead generation. It is designed to have people who are looking for what you have to offer call you, without the investment of time.
Passive lead generation, involves little to no time, but costs money (ads, lead buys). Active lead generation involves time but little to no money (cold calls in person, phone). Passive-Active are techniques that use less of both (Flyers, Prospecting cards). This is a bare bones description of these. It is important to know, that anything that involves sharing your product or service with people will generate customers and business partners if you are willing to do enough of it. I have done everything in my career so I could know how to do it, prove that it would work, and decide what I like and dislike. I can talk about this in depth if someone would like me to, and also provde training on any aspect (if no one asks I will stick to the stuff that works the best:-)
Anyway, I spent a lot of money (that I didn't have) advertising for about 9 months before I came across some materials that taught me how to build a list the right way. When I did so, and worked the list, my business began to grow much faster. Over time I modified the list development into something that allows someone to have a natural growth progression in working it, so they gradually stretch the comfort zone as they work.
Next I will share excatly how to build the best list.
