Today's readings were awesome as usual. The incredible thing about reading in the morning is that I learn something before breakfast and I am positioned to affect the day with a positive, motivated, active mind.
Bible: Today I read Amos Chapter 5. The lesson in this chapter is basically what NOT to do if you are leading people. Which, by the way, you are! The chapter is full of leaders acting unjustly and how this creates a negative impact on their followers...and ultimately leads to their demise. Anytime a leader is unjust to satisfy him or herself in the short term, the sacrifice is the long term...essential gaining a little and then losing it all! How foolish, but very common and good to be reminded...because it is easy for anyone to get caught up in the moment and not think things all the way through.
Og Mandino: "I will live this day as if it is my last. This day is all I have and these hours are my new eternity. I greet this sunrise with cries of joy as a prisoner who is repreived from death. I lift mine arms with thanks for this priceless gift of a new day. So too, I will beat upon my heart with gratitude as I consider all who greeted yesterday's sunrise who are no longer with the living today. I am indeed a fortunate man and today's hours are but a bonus, undeserved. Why have I been allowed to live this extra day when others, far better than I, have departed. Is it that they have accomplished their purpose while mine is yet to be achieved? Is this another opportunity for me to become the man I know I can be? Is there a purpose in nature? Is this my day to excel?" Wow...this is the way to approach a day isn't it?
Maxwell's Failing Forward: "While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior."-Henry C. Link
"Aspire" (by Kevin Hall): In the chapter on the word "Namaste"Hall talks about the impact this word can have in life if we were to demonstrate it's meaning to others....as a greeting this word translates into "I salute the Divine within you; I salute your God-given gifts." What would it mean to others if you basically conveyed to them: "I salute the divine within you. I salute what you do best. I salute your natural gifts. I honor your uniqueness and your specialness."
