Today's world is crazy busy. The only time that is going to be busier than today is tomorrow! It is as if everyone is going a million miles an hour. Getting people together can be a challenge, because there are always going to be conflicts of time. It used to be that a weekly meeting in which the opportunity and the products were spoken about, were a mainstay in the home business world and also served as a time to get together consistently.
That is not the case as much these days. People want to be able to work at their own pace and not be committed to a weekly meeting. They are already committed to so many things in their life that they don't want another thing to have to do. Time is also important, and I don't want people sitting in a meeting each week using some of the precious time they need for working their business.
In today's society it is still just as important to get together, but we have to be creative in how we do it. We are able to be more connected together through technology than ever before, so this serves some of the purpose that the old weekly get together used to serve. The prospects are also busy, and don't want to take the time to come to a meeting just for the purpose of learning more...some will...but you have to have a lot of people say they will come to have a few make it...they would rather learn another way.
I don't do a lot of events because it is so hard for everyone to attend, but when I do them I have learned that I cannot accomodate everyone's schedule...that's impossible. I do make sure that the absolute key people can be at the event, so I coordinate it with them first, then set the date. Once the date is set, the people who want to be here the most (unless someone has a major conflict) will be here. This is excellent for the event because the people in attendance are there because they want to be, and it is excellent for me because I know who cares the most..which from a coaching and mentoring standpoint is big.
This past Saturday, we had a local team breakfast at my home. It was awesome. We ate together and fellowshipped in general, and we also talked about some specific topics that were asked about ahead of time. So there was a loose agenda of topics. Having the team dynamic was great for the topics because people were learning from each other. It served the group in many ways and it was fun...this is important for any gatherings...they have to provide many benefits that serve the people. So don't be afraid to be as creative as you want, but make sure as you are growing your business you are getting together in some way with your partners.
