Employing Yourself 2

The first thing you have to do is "show up." You show up at your job when you don't feel like it, and that's for someone else's dream. Showing up for your home business is for you and your family...they deserve you to show up and so do you. Someone once said that the greater part of success is showing up. I believe this. The people who show up everyday in life, especially if they are excited/passionate about what is possible tend to do better.

So you have to show up whether you feel like it or not. And let's face it, there are going to be days when you don't feel like it. Perhaps you are simply tired, because the week of working, family, other issues, and your home business has worn you down a little. Perhaps you had a terrible day at the oiffice and you are in no mood to talk to people. Perhaps you are in a great mood but you walk in your home and the kids are fighting and your spouse is upset and your whole frame of mind just gets blown up! You've gotta do it anyway.

You can't simply do life or your business when you feel like it, because here is what will happen: You don't feel like doing something that you know you should or have to do (this could be anything). So you don't do it. And guess what? Now ytou feel worse! Now you have guilt on top of not doing it and you still have to deal with doing it! If this continues, you just feel worse and worse and you still take no action. This is because you have to change something for the feeling to change. You have to be the catalyst. If you take action you will feel better! You can never "feel" your way into a new way of acting, but you can "act" your way into a new way of feeling!

So here's the first lesson about this topic; set a schedule for yourself. You need to schedule monthly and weekly, and of course you need to have a daily schedule that you adhere to. On the monthly schedule, put webinars, conference calls, meetings, and any other events that are important or useful in your business. These need to be prioritized. Block out the time a month ahead, or as you know about things, and then once you schedule it then it is no longer a social possibility for your calender. Weekly you need to block out specifically the days you are going to work on purpose and the times you are going to work. I say on purpose, because of course, you are going to be able to work your business through the course of your daily life also, but the blocked out time is sacred.

Then you need to show up at the appointed time every day just as you would your job...because it most cases, if you REALLY get what is possible for yourself and your family in the future...your home business is more important than the job. More later...gotta run to the conference.
