There are two aspects of belief in your product/service that you must have to succeed. The first is that the kind of product that you are offering is important. In other words, YOU understand and believe that the product category is something you should not be without. In my case, I work with high quality nutritional supplements because I have a deep belief and understanding that I cannot get what I need to live a long, healthy, vibrant life from the foods available. This came from personal experience and then studying the state of wellness in society and the state of food. There is no doubt in my mind and the evidence around me is clear. The people that have been supplementing with the right kinds of products for years look better, have more energy, are more active, and have less health issues than the rest of the population (and they have spent much less money on supplements than those who don't supplement have spent in medical bills). This is true for someone who is 18 or 80.
The second aspect is that the products you are offering are THE products people should be using. Again, for me this is an easy one. I know how they are made and what they have done for myself and for many others.
These are two beliefs that I have that are so strong that it does not matter what someone else says, they cannot shake this belief. It is the foundation from which I and you, should operate from, because this is the rock upon which you can build the fortress.
When I approach someone to share my product offering, they can feel the depth of my conviction. This is an important point in all avenues of life...THE PERSON WITH THE STRONGEST CONVICTION WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH IN THE LONG RUN.
Even if they are not intersted at the time I approach them, they do not shake my belief...and because of the approach style I teach, they will come around eventually (this is besides the point at the moment).
So How does this tie back to belief in self and building a business?
Since most people have a low belief that they will succeed in life in general, it is vital that they are able to raise this belief level in themselves. Developing customers raises this belief because it proves that they can succeed. Whereas they might experience stronger challenges when they approach for the business opportunity (it is more challenging to sponsor others into the business than it is to develop customers), Anyone, with the proper approach can develop customers.
Each customer you acquire grows your belief. In fact, if you can develop one customer, you can repeat this process endlessly. The more customers you develop the more of a business you are creating. Your belief is being positively reinforced because you are succeeding and you are recieving positive feedback from your customers. Few things make me feel as good as someone thanking me for introducing them to my products, because I know they are genuinely helping them and this is what it is all about.
Once you have developed several customers, your belief is at a level where you are more confident sharing the business with someone and you have proven that it works! You have grown your own personal and business credibility.
