Everybody experiences fear. Everybody. The question for you is what do you do about it? If you have read my book "The Process" you know that I consider the "obstacle" of fear as a lack of maturity in business. I say obstacle because fear is a very real obstacle for most people and it can immobilize them. I refer to it as a lack of maturity from the perspective that people who succeed in business know that fear is truly "false enemies appearing real" and that if it freezes you then you fail...but if you acknowledge it and move forward anyway, you succeed. It is very true that action overcomes fear. Always. Every time!
However, fear exists regardless for most people. So here is a very philosophical way to manage fear. First, think back to all the things in your life that fear has caused you to miss out on. For me it is a long list. I missed so many opportunities for experiences and fun and learning as a young person, and then as I got older I added missed opportunities for financial gain to the mix too. Being afraid to go after what you want in life is a guaranteed way to never have it. It is the ticket to mediocrity and wasted gifts. It is a one way street to regret.
So here is a way to consider fear and dealing with it. Think real hard about what you want in life and what you don't. There is going to be an element of fear either way. Going after what you want means growing and learning and stepping outside of where you are comfortable which will cause you fear. NOT going after what you want means living a life of dissatisfatcion, limitation, regret, mental anguish, and basically saying NO to the gifts and desires God has placed in you.
So here's the question...which fear would you prefer to push through? The day I recognized that I had a much greater fear of what life would be like if I didn't pursue my dream, than the little temporary fears involved with actual pursuit, was the day I guaranteed a rich life (not necessarily monetary in concept although that tends to come with it over time) for myself and my family.
Inaction is to be feared way way way more than action. You hold in your hands an opportunity to create the life you want for yourself and your family, it's easy to do and you CAN do it...so feel the fear and do it anyway:-)
