If your mouth isn't open your business isn't open. It's really easy to think you are engaging in your business when you are learning about your marketing plan or studying your products, or any number of other things you can do that will use your time in the name of your business. It is valuable to learn about things, organize things, plan things, etc. However, make no mistake....while it is valuable it is not productive.
The only thing that is productive in your business are the activities that lead to sponsoring and developing business partners and creating and serving customers. Approach, information, follow-up, and serve. If you are not actively involved in one of these areas of your business, then you are not directly involved in a business building activity (you are in a business but not doing the business). The development of your future, long-term, stable income is predicated on the volume of product that is moving to consumers.
The only thing you are paid on in a legitimate home business is the movement of products and/or services to end consumers. This is accomplished by developing a strong customer base yourself and then teaching others how to do the same thing. The replication of this leads to the much bigger picture later. Therefore, the most important activity you can be engaged in is opening your mouth and letting people know that you have a business that is open to serve them.
The business is easy to do: If there is a need for your products/service in the market, simply make sure that everyday you invite someone to learn about what you have to offer. I suggest you invite at least 3 people per day if you are part-time (which most people are). Certainly you should approach people the right way (I'll talk about this in future blogs or you can order my book "The Process" from Amazon), so that they feel comfortable and safe to learn about what you have to offer. Then you let the process run it's course and focus only on serving the other person's needs. If you do things the right way, you don't need sales skills, you don't need closing skills, you don't need to handle objections....you just enjoy communicating with people who genuinely want to help themselves and help them see how they can do this through what you offer. This is all I've ever done, and it works consistently. I use no sales or closing techniques...that would be no fun. Just open your mouth the right way every day and work the process.
